South China — Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Yangshuo and Guilin, 10 days
Ten days through the south: Hong Kong as the entry point, Guangzhou for Cantonese food culture, then the karst river landscape of Yangshuo and Guilin before flying home.
This itinerary uses Hong Kong as the arrival city — it has the most international flight connections in southern China — then moves into mainland China by high-speed rail (the Hong Kong–Guangzhou West Kowloon to Guangzhou South HSR runs in 47 minutes). The south of China is warmer, more humid, and very different from Beijing or Xi'an in character: Cantonese-speaking, seafood-focused, and with a different visual landscape dominated by karst geography.
