Information accuracy
Every page on ChinaVisitGuide that quotes a price, opening hour, address, transport schedule or visa rule carries a verified-date stamp. That date reflects a real check against an authoritative source on or around that month. We do not carry stamps we have not earned.
Despite this, information goes out of date. Visa requirements change on policy shifts that happen without advance public notice. Museums close for renovation. Fares are revised. Permit requirements are tightened or relaxed. We cannot guarantee that any specific piece of information remains accurate at the moment you read it.
For any decision with financial or logistical consequences, confirm current details directly with the relevant authority, operator or service provider before acting.
Safety-critical information
Certain categories of information carry heightened risk if they are out of date:
- Visa requirements: confirm with the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country of residence before applying or travelling. Requirements differ by nationality, port of entry, onward destination and length of stay. The 240-hour visa-free transit policy, for example, applies only to designated ports and specified transit conditions; verify current eligibility directly with the consulate.
- Permit requirements: Tibet, certain areas of Xinjiang, and some border zones require permits beyond a standard visa. Confirm permit requirements with a licensed tour operator registered in the relevant province and with the consulate. Attempting to enter a restricted area without the correct permit can result in detention and deportation.
- Travel restrictions: some areas of China are subject to access restrictions that change without public notice. Check travel advisories issued by your national government (UK: FCDO; US: State Department; Australia: DFAT) before departure.
Health
We are not medical professionals. Nothing on this site constitutes medical advice. Before travelling to China, consult a qualified travel-health clinic for up-to-date guidance on vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis (relevant in parts of Yunnan and Hainan), altitude sickness management (relevant in Tibet and high-altitude areas of Sichuan and Qinghai), and any other health considerations relevant to your personal medical history. The NHS Travel Healthpro website and the CDC Traveler's Health pages are appropriate starting points for UK and US travellers respectively.
Legal matters
We are not lawyers. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice. For questions about visa status, work authorisation, marriage registration, residency permits, business entity setup, or any other matter with legal consequences, consult a qualified solicitor or registered legal representative with experience of Chinese law.
Currency conversions and prices
Any price given in a foreign currency equivalent (GBP, USD, EUR) is indicative at the time of writing and will change as exchange rates move. CNY prices in the body of an article are current as of the verified date on that article; prices at specific attractions, hotels and operators are set by those operators and change without notice. Always confirm prices directly with the service provider before committing funds.
Limitation of liability
ChinaVisitGuide accepts no liability for loss, injury, inconvenience, or expense arising directly or indirectly from reliance on information published on this site.
