Wuhu Fantawild Adventure Park
芜湖方特欢乐世界 · Wúhú Fāngtè Huānlè Shìjiè
About
A large Chinese-developed theme park in Wuhu, Anhui, operated by Fantawild Holdings and considered one of the most visited theme parks in China, blending Chinese mythology and culture with immersive ride technology.
Wuhu Fantawild Adventure is the original flagship park of Fantawild Holdings, a Chinese entertainment company that has grown into one of the largest theme park operators in Asia. The Wuhu park opened in 2006 and has been expanded repeatedly, making it the most developed of the Fantawild chain.
Unlike Western theme parks that licence international entertainment IPs, Fantawild parks draw heavily on Chinese mythology, history, and popular culture. Rides and attractions reference Journey to the West, the Legend of the White Snake, ancient Chinese architecture, and Chinese space exploration. The approach creates an experience that resonates strongly with domestic visitors and offers international tourists an insight into Chinese popular culture entertainment that differs substantially from Disneyland or Universal.
The park contains multiple immersive attraction zones: Western themes in one area contrast with Jiangnan water-town aesthetics in another. The highlight rides include large-format 4D cinema attractions with moving seats and environmental effects, a dark ride through Chinese mythological narratives, and a rollercoaster with a theming sequence referencing the terracotta army.
Wuhu itself is a mid-size city on the Yangtze River between Nanjing and Huangshan, often bypassed by visitors heading for those more celebrated destinations. The Fantawild park, combined with the adjacent Fantawild Oriental Heritage park (a second gate focusing on Chinese cultural heritage), makes Wuhu a viable day trip from Nanjing or an overnight stop on a Yangtze circuit.
How to get there
High-speed rail to Wuhu Station from Nanjing (approximately 45 minutes) or Hefei (approximately 1.5 hours). Metro Line 1 from Wuhu Station toward the park area, then taxi.
When to visit
Weekdays avoid the longest queues. Chinese school holidays (summer and National Week) are the busiest periods.
Crowds: Arrive at opening time for the most popular rides. The park operates a mobile queue system — download the Fantawild app before visiting.
