The Lantau Trail is a 70 km circular hike around Hong Kong's largest outlying island, with 12 sections. Highlights include Lantau Peak (934m, the second-highest in Hong Kong) and Sunset Peak. The trail passes through Tung Chung, Pak Mong village, the Tin Tan Big Buddha area, and the southern coast at Cheung Sha Beach. Old YHA huts and several monastery guesthouses provide overnight accommodation.
How to get there
MTR Tung Chung Line to Tung Chung as the main start point.
When to visit
October–April. Avoid summer heat and typhoon season.
