About
Qingdao's iconic 440m pier into the Yellow Sea, with the Huilan Pavilion at the end. The city's most-photographed sight.
Zhanqiao Pier was originally built in 1892 by the Qing dynasty as a naval landing pier. The current 440m structure was rebuilt in 1933 and houses the Huilan Pavilion at the seaward end (a small octagonal pavilion now functioning as a museum). The image of Tsingtao Beer's logo derives from the pier and pavilion. Walking out at sunset is the canonical Qingdao experience.
