Qingdao Old Town and Beer Street
青岛老城啤酒街 · Qīngdǎo Lǎochéng Píjiǔ Jiē
About
German-era old town at the heart of Qingdao. The Beer Street (Dengzhou Road) is the working night-time food strip.
Qingdao's old town clusters around Zhongshan Road south of Xinhao Hill. The German-era buildings — St Michael's Cathedral, Catholic and Lutheran churches, the former German Governor's Mansion (now the Qingdao Welcoming Guests Hotel) — survive in workable density. Dengzhou Road, a few blocks north, is 'Beer Street' — open-air seafood and Tsingtao on tap from plastic bags, peak activity 6pm–11pm.
How to get there
Metro Line 3 to Qingdao Station.
When to visit
Summer evening for the Beer Street.
