Sacred Daoist mountain in northern Shanxi. The Hanging Temple (Xuankong Si) is on its slope.
Mt Heng (the Northern Sacred Mountain, distinguishing it from the southern Mt Heng in Hunan) is the northernmost of the Five Sacred Mountains of China — a sacred Daoist site. The 2,016m summit is reached by hiking trail or cable car. The Hanging Temple is on the mountain's lower slope. Combine with Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple for a Datong-area trip.
