Great Wall — Jiankou

Unrestored, partially collapsed Wall section in steep terrain. For experienced hikers only — the most photogenic 'wild Wall' segment near Beijing.

Jiankou (Arrow Notch) is the unrestored Wall section that landscape photographers chase. The wall runs along an extremely steep ridge with several knife-edge stretches and partial collapses. Local authorities discourage non-guided access; injuries occur regularly. A controlled segment connecting to Mutianyu via the Ox-Horn Edge has marked routes; the rest is for experienced hikers only with local guides.
