The Beijing–Hohhot–Jining–Erlian railway line crosses the Juyong Pass Great Wall, passes through the landscape of the 2022 Winter Olympics, and continues onto the Mongolian Plateau. This 10-day itinerary uses rail as the primary transport, with time in Zhangjiakou (a significant HSR hub and Qing dynasty border trading post), Hohhot, and the Xanadu ruins near Duolun.
