SHANGHAI · FAMILY TRAVEL
Shanghai with kids
Shanghai is generally regarded as the easiest Chinese city for families with young children — wide pavements, reliable international food, English-speaking staff in most tourist-district hotels, and a strong network of international medical facilities. The city's playgrounds and family attractions are well-maintained.

The French Concession and Xintiandi areas have the densest concentration of international family-friendly dining. Most international hotel restaurants offer English menus and children's portions; the Great Hall of the People café inside the Bund area is popular for accessible dim sum. Fast-food options (McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut) are widely available if children need a reliable fallback.
