GUANGZHOU · FAMILY TRAVEL
Guangzhou with kids
Guangzhou is a practical family destination with several purpose-built theme parks, good zoo facilities, and a compact older city area that children can walk without too much fatigue. The tropical climate means outdoor parks are best visited October–April.

Tianhe Park (metro: Tianhe Park, Line 1) has open lawns, a small lake for paddle boats, and a dedicated children's play area. Yuexiu Park in the city centre has a manageable area for younger children, with the city wall and Five Rams statue nearby. The Haizhu National Wetland Park in the south of the city is excellent for birdwatching walks with older children.
Canton Tower and Zhujiang New Town both have family-orientated international dining options. Most shopping malls in Tianhe (Taikoo Hui, Grandview Mall) have food courts with diverse options including dedicated Japanese and Korean children's meal sets. Cantonese dim sum in traditional teahouses is family-friendly by nature — ordered at the table or by trolley; pointing at dishes works well.
