About this neighbourhood
Songshan Lake Science Park was established in 2001 around a 72-square-kilometre reservoir in the centre of Dongguan municipality. The park was designed as a landscaped, low-density technology campus — a deliberate contrast to the congested factory-floor character of the surrounding manufacturing townships — and has become one of the principal addresses in the Pearl River Delta for advanced-manufacturing, robotics, and electronics R&D.
Huawei's Songshan Lake campus, completed in stages from 2018, is the most-discussed facility in the park — a sequence of a dozen architecturally-themed European-style mini-town clusters (a Heidelberg block, a Paris block, a Bruges block) arranged around internal waterways and park spaces, intended to create a pleasant working environment for Huawei's R&D staff. The campus is not publicly accessible but is visible from the lake-road circuit.
The Songshan Lake itself — a large reservoir with forested shores and a 28-kilometre cycling path around the perimeter — provides the park's principal public recreational space. The cycling route passes research-facility campuses, pine-covered hillsides, and several lakeside pavilion areas; it is used extensively by park employees and weekend visitors from central Dongguan.
The International Robotics Industrial Base, adjacent to the lake, is a cluster of robotics and intelligent-manufacturing firms that have grown alongside Huawei's presence in the park.

Hazards & notes
Huawei's campus is not publicly accessible. The science park is primarily a working R&D district — visitor experience is limited outside the lakeside green areas.
