丽江三义国际机场 · LJG / ZPLJ. The gateway airport for Lijiang — the UNESCO Naxi old town, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the southern gateway to Tiger Leaping Gorge and Shangri-La.
About this airport
Lijiang Sanyi International Airport serves one of Yunnan's most internationally known destinations: Lijiang old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Naxi minority architecture, set in a valley with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain visible to the north. The airport handles substantial domestic traffic and a growing number of international connections.
The Naxi people — an ethnic minority with an ancient pictographic writing system (Dongba script), a living shamanic tradition (the Dongba priests), and a rich ceremonial music culture — are the indigenous inhabitants of the Lijiang area. The old town's traditional wooden architecture, cobbled canals, and mountain backdrop have made it one of the most visited heritage cities in China.
Direct flights connect from Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other Chinese cities [VERIFY: current routes — May 2026]. International routes to Thailand, Singapore, and some other Asian destinations operate [VERIFY: current international schedule — May 2026].
The airport is well positioned relative to the city — the 30-minute shuttle to the old town is among the shorter airport-to-attraction journeys in China. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596 m, cable car to 4,506 m) is visible from the road. The Lugu Lake scenic area (3 hours west) and the Tiger Leaping Gorge trail (90 km north) are the primary adventure destinations accessible from Lijiang.
Lijiang has become a significant domestic Chinese leisure destination, particularly for couples — the combination of altitude, historic architecture, mountain scenery and the perceived romanticism of the Naxi culture has made it a honeymoon and anniversary destination par excellence.
