吉林二台子机场 · JIL / ZYBS. A small regional airport serving Jilin city and providing access to the Beidahu ski resort in winter.
About this airport
Jilin Ertaizi Airport is a small regional facility serving Jilin city — distinct from Jilin province, whose capital is Changchun. The city of Jilin sits on the Songhua River and is the second largest city in the province. The airport handles a limited number of domestic routes, primarily connecting to Beijing, Shanghai, and Hainan, with frequency varying significantly by season.
Ground transport from JIL is primarily by taxi. Taxis to Jilin city centre take approximately 30 minutes and cost approximately CNY 40–60. [VERIFY: current fares — May 2026]. There is no metro or express bus service; taxis are the standard option. The official taxi rank is outside arrivals. No public bus service connects to the city directly. [VERIFY: current transport options — May 2026].
The primary draw for international visitors using JIL is winter access to Beidahu Ski Resort, approximately 50 km from the city. Beidahu hosted cross-country skiing events of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and is one of China's more established ski destinations, offering a range of terrain in the Longshan Mountains. The resort is accessible by road in approximately 1.5 hours. During the ski season (December–March), shuttle services operate between Jilin city and Beidahu. [VERIFY: current shuttle arrangements — May 2026].
Jilin city is notable for its riverside winter scenery: the Songhua River does not fully freeze upstream of the Fengman dam due to thermal discharge from the power station, creating conditions for rime ice (wu song, 雾凇) formation. Water vapour from the unfrozen river coats the riverside trees in crystalline ice formations that are among the most distinctive winter landscapes in northeastern China. The best viewing period is January and February, when the formations are most developed. The riverfront park and Jiangnan Park are the main viewing spots.
Immigration at JIL is a domestic facility — there is no international arrivals hall as the airport handles only domestic routes. International travellers arriving here will have cleared immigration in Changchun, Beijing, or another port of entry first.
SIM cards are obtainable in the city; the airport's small scale means counter services are minimal. Bring a working SIM from your port of entry if possible.
Facilities are basic by Chinese airport standards: a food counter with standard Chinese dishes, limited seating, and taxi access outside. Wi-Fi is available with the standard phone-number verification. Chinese internet restrictions apply on the domestic network.
Accessibility is limited. Basic facilities are present but the airport's small size means less consistent provision than at major terminals. Wheelchair assistance should be arranged through your airline in advance.
