重庆江北国际机场 · CKG / ZUCK. Gateway to the Yangtze gorges and China's inland megacity, Chongqing's airport has direct metro access and Sichuan hot pot available airside.
About this airport
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport serves one of China's most distinctive cities: a municipality of over 30 million people built on steep limestone hills at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. The city's topography means that neither metro nor elevated roads run straight for long, and the resulting stacked, vertical urban form has made Chongqing a viral subject on social media.
The airport lies north of the Jialing River, roughly 22 kilometres from the Jiefangbei commercial centre. Terminal 3A, opened in 2017, is a large modern facility with good light and efficient processing. The metro connection opened in 2018 and has made the airport considerably more accessible.
Chongqing is the departure point for Yangtze River cruises through the Three Gorges, one of China's classic long-distance travel experiences. The city is also known for its particularly intense form of Sichuan hot pot — the local style is heavier on Sichuan pepper and chilli than Chengdu versions — and for a nightlife culture centred on the riverbanks. International routes connect to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and a growing list of European cities.
Terminals
Three terminals: T2 (domestic), T3A (opened 2017, international and some domestic), T3B (cargo). Metro Lines 3 and 10 serve the airport.
Transit to the city
Metro Line 10 connects T3A to the city's network, linking to Line 3 at Jiangbei Airport station. The journey to Jiefangbei (Liberation Monument) takes about 35–45 minutes (CNY 8). Taxis cost CNY 70–120 depending on destination.

Food
T3A has a strong Chongqing food presence: mala hot pot stalls, xiaomian noodles (重庆小面), and chuan chuan skewers. The level of spice is genuinely Chongqing-standard rather than tourist-moderated.
Sleep options
The Pullman Chongqing Jiangbei Airport is the primary connected hotel, accessible by covered walkway from T3A. Several other hotels are within taxi distance.
Transit visa-free rules
Chongqing holds a 144-hour TWOV for eligible nationalities on qualifying international routes. Transit passengers may travel within Chongqing municipality.
