长春龙嘉国际机场 · CGQ / ZYCC. The gateway to Jilin province's capital and the Changbaishan volcanic region, serving northeast China with direct connections to major cities.
About this airport
Changchun Longjia International Airport serves Changchun, the capital of Jilin province in China's northeastern region. Changchun's modern history is closely associated with the automotive industry — it is home to FAW (First Automobile Works), the state-owned company that began producing China's first domestic cars here in 1953, and the city retains an industrial character alongside its administrative functions as a provincial capital.
The airport is located approximately 30 km northeast of the city centre in the flat agricultural plain of the Jilin provincial landscape. The single terminal building was significantly expanded in 2020. International traffic connects primarily to Japan, South Korea, Russia, and some Southeast Asian destinations, reflecting Changchun's economic ties. Domestic connections cover all major Chinese cities.
Ground transport from CGQ is by airport express bus or taxi. Airport Express Bus Line 1 runs to Changchun Railway Station in approximately 1 hour (CNY 20). [VERIFY: current fare and schedule — May 2026]. Taxis to the city centre cost approximately CNY 100–130, depending on destination. [VERIFY: current market rate — May 2026]. The lack of a metro connection makes the express bus the most reliable non-taxi option. Rideshare (DiDi) is available from designated areas outside arrivals.
Immigration at CGQ follows the standard fingerprint and biometric process. International arrival volumes are lower than at major northeast hubs; wait times are typically 15–30 minutes. [VERIFY: current typical wait times — May 2026]. SIM counters from China Mobile and China Unicom are in the arrivals hall. Tourist data packages are available; bring your passport.
Changchun is the gateway to Jilin province's two most significant natural attractions: Changbaishan (Mount Changbai), the volcanic mountain with a caldera lake straddling the North Korean border, and Beidahu, a ski resort in the Jilin mountains that hosted events of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Most visitors to these areas transit through Changchun. For Changbaishan, the road journey from the city is approximately 4–5 hours.
The city itself has the Puppet Emperor's Palace (Weiman Huanggong) — the residence of Puyi, the last Qing emperor, during the Japanese-controlled Manchukuo period (1932–1945). The palace complex is the main heritage attraction and tells a complicated story of collaboration, colonial power, and personal tragedy.
Priority Pass access is through the China Southern Lounge, which accepts Priority Pass. Standard Chinese regional quality: hot food with some northeastern options, beverages, adequate seating.
Food in the terminal has northeast Chinese specialities alongside standard fast food chains: sour cabbage (suancai) pork dishes, corn products, and noodle dishes. Prices are airport-elevated.
Wi-Fi requires the standard passport-scan or phone-number verification. Chinese internet restrictions apply on the domestic network.
Accessibility at CGQ is adequate: lifts, ramps, and tactile paving are present in the main terminal. Wheelchair assistance is available through your airline.
