Saudi ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. Saudi Arabia was included in the 2024 expansion, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between China and Gulf states.

What you need at the border

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
  • Onward ticket.
  • Hotel reservation or address.
  • Digital arrival declaration.

Strategic context

China is Saudi Arabia's largest trading partner, with energy, petrochemicals, and infrastructure investment driving significant executive-level travel. The 30-day window covers government and business delegations, site visits, and commercial meetings.

Scope

Tourism, business meetings, family visits. Tibet requires the Tibet Travel Permit. Stays beyond 30 days need an L visa from the Chinese Embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate-General in Jeddah.

Hong Kong and Macau

Saudi passport-holders are eligible for Hong Kong entry; confirm current visa-free status and duration with Hong Kong Immigration before travel. Macau — verify separately.

Practical notes

Riyadh and Jeddah have direct flight connections to Chinese gateway cities. Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air China, and other carriers operate these routes. Flight times of approximately 9–11 hours.
