China visa for Philippines citizens
Philippine passport holders are eligible for 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China as of 2024. Hong Kong 14 days visa-free.
Current status (verified May 2026)
Philippine ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. The Philippines was included in the 2024 expansion, though the bilateral relationship has at times been complicated by South China Sea disputes. As of May 2026, the visa-free arrangement is active — confirm before booking.
What you need at the border
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
- Onward ticket.
- Hotel booking or address.
- Digital arrival declaration.
Scope
Tourism, business meetings, family visits. Tibet requires the Tibet Travel Permit. Stays beyond 30 days need an L visa from the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
Relations note
Philippine–China relations are influenced by maritime territorial disputes. Visa policy has historically been affected by diplomatic friction; travellers should monitor the current situation before booking non-refundable flights.
Hong Kong
Philippine passport-holders are visa-free for Hong Kong (14 days — shorter than most ASEAN nationalities). If your itinerary combines Hong Kong and mainland China, plan your timing around this shorter window.
Practical notes
Manila and Cebu have direct flight connections to multiple Chinese cities. The OFW (overseas Filipino worker) community in China, though small, means some consular familiarity with cross-border mobility.
