Current status (verified May 2026)

Mexican ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. Mexico was included in the 2024 wave of China's visa-free programme expansion.

What you need at the border

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
  • Onward ticket.
  • Hotel reservation or address.
  • Digital customs and health declaration on arrival.

What 30-day visa-free covers

Tourism, business meetings, and family visits throughout mainland China, excluding permit-required zones. Tibet requires the Tibet Travel Permit; some Xinjiang border zones require additional documentation.

Longer stays

Stays beyond 30 days or purposes such as work or study require the appropriate visa category from the Chinese Embassy in Mexico City or consulates-general in Guadalajara, Monterrey, or Tijuana.

Hong Kong and Macau

Mexican passport-holders are visa-free for Hong Kong (90 days) and Macau (30 days). Mainland China entry rights are separate.

Practical notes

Mexico–China flight connections typically route via North American or Asian hubs — direct non-stop flights are limited. Travellers should check current route options before planning.
