China visa for Indonesia citizens

Indonesian ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. Indonesia was included in the 2024 expansion of the visa-free programme.
What you need at the border
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
- Onward ticket.
- Hotel booking or address.
- Digital customs and health declaration.
Chinese-Indonesian community
Indonesia has one of the largest overseas Chinese communities in the world. Family visits and cultural tourism between Indonesia and mainland China are significant components of travel flows. The visa-free arrangement benefits this community directly.
Scope
Tourism, business meetings, family visits. Tibet requires the Tibet Travel Permit. Stays beyond 30 days need an L visa from the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta or consulates in Surabaya, Medan, or Makassar.
Hong Kong and Macau
Indonesian passport-holders are visa-free for Hong Kong (30 days). Macau entry conditions — verify before travel.
Practical notes
Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya and Medan all have direct flight connections to Chinese cities. The Bali–China corridor is particularly active for leisure travel.
