China visa for Greece citizens

Greek ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. Greece was included in the 2024 expansion.
What you need at the border
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
- Onward ticket.
- Hotel booking or address.
- Digital arrival declaration.
Scope
Tourism, business meetings, family visits. Tibet Travel Permit required separately. Stays beyond 30 days need an L visa from the Chinese Embassy in Athens.
Port connections
Greece (particularly Piraeus) has become a significant European maritime gateway in Chinese-linked trade and infrastructure. Business travel related to shipping, logistics, and port operations is well-established; the 30-day window covers site visits and meetings.
Hong Kong and Macau
Greek passport-holders are visa-free for Hong Kong (90 days) and Macau (90 days). The mainland entitlement is independent.
Standard L visa
Apply at the Chinese Embassy in Athens. Standard four-working-day processing. CVASC offices may operate in Athens — verify locally.
