China visa for Chile citizens

Chilean passport holders are eligible for 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China as of 2024. Hong Kong 90 days, Macau 30 days.

Chilean ordinary passport holders are eligible for the 30-day visa-free entry to mainland China for tourism, business, family visit or transit. Chile joined the programme in 2024. Chile has a free trade agreement with China, and significant agricultural and mining trade flows between the two countries.

What you need at the border

  • Passport valid 6+ months beyond intended stay.
  • Onward ticket.
  • Hotel booking or address.
  • Digital arrival declaration.

Scope

Tourism, business meetings, family visits. Tibet Travel Permit required separately. Stays beyond 30 days need an L visa from the Chinese Embassy in Santiago.

Apply at the Chinese Embassy in Santiago. Standard processing: four working days.

Hong Kong and Macau

Chilean passport-holders are visa-free for Hong Kong (90 days) and Macau (30 days). These are independent from mainland entry.

Practical notes

Santiago–Beijing and Santiago–Shanghai connections exist, though often via hub transfers. Travellers should plan flight routing carefully.
