Visiting and hours

The British Embassy in Beijing provides consular assistance to British nationals in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau). Since most UK passport renewals are processed centrally in the UK rather than at overseas posts, the Embassy's citizen services focus on emergency travel documents, welfare cases, arrest notification, and general consular assistance.

Appointments are required for most services; book through the GOV.UK website. The emergency line is available outside business hours for genuine emergencies. British nationals in China are encouraged to register with the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) via the LOCATE service.
