Visiting and hours
The Japanese Embassy in Beijing handles consular matters for Japanese nationals throughout mainland China. Japan maintains an extensive consular network in China given the large Japanese business and residential community; consulates also operate in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, and Chongqing.
Services include passport renewals, family register-related documentation, notarial acts, and general consular assistance. Japan requires appointments for most services; book through the Embassy's appointment system. The Ritan Road location is well-situated relative to the Chaoyang international business community. Emergency contact outside business hours is through the duty officer system listed on the Embassy website.
