Consular services

Passport services, civil status documents, notarial and legalisation services, AIRE registration (Italians Resident Abroad) for Italian nationals.

Visiting and hours

The Italian Embassy in Beijing provides the full range of consular services for Italian nationals in mainland China: passport and identity card applications, civil registry acts (birth, marriage, death), notarial acts, document legalisation, and assistance with AIRE registration for residents abroad.

Italy requires appointments for all consular services; book through the consular appointment system on the Embassy website. Italian nationals residing in China should register with AIRE to maintain access to Italian public services and voting rights from abroad.

The Embassy is located in the Sanlitun diplomatic compound area, accessible by metro and taxi. Emergency assistance for Italian nationals outside business hours is available through the duty officer line noted on the Embassy website.

Addresses, phone numbers, and appointment procedures change. Always confirm current details on the official embassy or consulate website before attending. In genuine emergencies, use the out-of-hours duty line rather than daytime contact numbers.
