Visiting and hours

The German Embassy in Beijing serves German nationals throughout mainland China. Services include passport and identity card issuance, civil status registration (births, marriages, deaths), notarial acts, and general consular assistance. Germany requires appointments for most consular services; book online via the Embassy's appointment system.

The Dongzhimenwai diplomatic area location is accessible by metro. German nationals living in China for more than three months are required to register with the Embassy (Anmeldung im Ausland). Emergency assistance outside business hours is available through an emergency line listed on the Embassy website.

Germany also operates a Consulate General in Shanghai and a consulate in Guangzhou.

Addresses, phone numbers, and appointment procedures change. Always confirm current details on the official embassy or consulate website before attending. In genuine emergencies, use the out-of-hours duty line rather than daytime contact numbers.
