Visiting and hours

The Canadian Embassy in Beijing covers consular services for Canadian citizens throughout mainland China. Emergency travel documents are available in-person; routine Canadian passport renewals should be submitted online through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Embassy also handles citizenship certificate applications and some notarial services.

Appointments are required; book through the official Embassy website. The compound is in Chaoyang's diplomatic district. For emergencies outside business hours, the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa operates a 24-hour line. Canadian nationals are advised to register their stay in China via the Registration of Canadians Abroad service.

Addresses, phone numbers, and appointment procedures change. Always confirm current details on the official embassy or consulate website before attending. In genuine emergencies, use the out-of-hours duty line rather than daytime contact numbers.
