International School of Beijing (ISB) is the oldest and largest American-curriculum international school in China. Located in the Shunyi expatriate district, it operates on a large campus with facilities that include an aquatic centre, performing arts theatre, multiple gymnasiums, and extensive science and technology labs.
The school follows a US-aligned curriculum throughout, with Advanced Placement courses available from Grade 10. College counselling — oriented strongly towards North American universities — begins in Grade 9. ISB has long-established relationships with US college admissions offices, and its students matriculate to a broad range of selective universities annually.
The community is large and the school has the resources to offer a wide extracurricular catalogue: competitive sports (including swimming, basketball, and cross country), orchestra, band, choir, drama, and a wide range of academic clubs. Mandarin is taught at all year levels; additional language support in English is available.
Admission is restricted to foreign passport-holders. Application processes open annually; for mid-year arrivals, the admissions office manages individual placement by assessment. Early application is advisable as some grades may have limited capacity.
