German Swiss International School (GSIS) is a unique institution in Hong Kong's international school landscape, operating two parallel teaching sections: a German section following the Bavarian curriculum through to the Abitur, and an English section following IGCSE and A Level. Students may be enrolled in either section or, in some years, cross-section study.
For German-speaking families, GSIS provides one of the very few formal German curriculum pathways in East Asia. The Abitur-qualified students gain a qualification directly recognised for German, Austrian, and Swiss university entrance, which is a significant benefit for families whose children's university plans remain anchored in the German-speaking world.
The English section operates similarly to other IGCSE/A Level schools in Hong Kong, preparing students for UK and international university applications. The campus in The Peak area of Hong Kong Island is one of the more scenic in the city.
Admission requires a foreign passport or international status. Both sections have their own admission criteria; academic assessment is part of the process. The German section has additional language requirements.
