The British School of Beijing operates two campuses; the Sanlitun campus is the larger, serving Secondary through Sixth Form (Year 7 to Year 13). A Primary campus in Shunyi serves EYFS through Year 6. Together they form one of the most established British curriculum pathways in China.
The school follows the English National Curriculum, preparing students for GCSE and A Level examinations with a UK university placement trajectory in mind. This makes BSB particularly valuable for families on rotation from the UK who anticipate returning: children experience minimal curriculum disruption, and UCAS applications are handled by an experienced team familiar with the process for overseas-based students.
Teaching staff are predominantly British-trained and registered. Pastoral care follows a house system. Extracurricular provision is broad, including sports, drama, music, and Model United Nations. Mandarin is taught throughout as a compulsory subject.
Admission is open to foreign passport-holders. Placement is by age-appropriate assessment, and the admissions team will discuss provision for students requiring English language support. Waiting lists at certain year groups can develop, particularly at primary level.
